After gaining the understanding of the principles of community-based participatory research, I realized our approach to the preventative health would be an arduous task.  The reseidents of Dorchester and Roxbury are no less concerned with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness than our suburban neighbors.  These inner-city communities have been historically santioned, experimented on, and simply noy included in the positive stragedies, benificial sciences, targeted health studies and funding that created equitable generational health and wellness.  These are some problematic issues that the Village FEAT seek to remedy by educating our community.

Testimonials

VerBaLizAtiOn is an open mic gathering that consists of poetry, song, refreshments and good vibes. The event goes on twice every month at Hibernian Hall. Attendees/guests include poets, rappers, singers and fans of the art. The refreshments are provided by Fulani's Kitchen - a service that provides a delicious, healthy and organic selection of various meals. With the majority being vegetables, Fulani's Kitchen adds an inner smile to our stomachs and sunshine to our taste-buds. Everyone who have attended VerBaLizAtiOn really enjoys the food made by songstress/storyteller Fulani Haynes. The result from Fulani's Kitchen is a collection of scrumptious plates cleaned empty with sheer satisfaction.

When I started teaching my grandson how to bake he caught on very quickly. I realized how easy it was to teach him cooking, cutting ,baking and prepping techniques.  He told his friends about the fun he was having in the kitchen and his new healthy eating habits and his friends wanted to join him.  This evolved into me starting a small cooking class.  This video explains shows a 6yr old Rasheed the passion he has for healthy living.
